Super Moon Blues - A Spotify Song

Interesting enough, last Tuesday some of us might of witnessed the new Strawberry Supermoon which is apparently the closest the moon has been to Earth since 2004. Two reasons why I bring this up is because the Moon and all of it's mysterious glory has always been an inspiration for my lyrics and artwork, hence my 2019 release Super Moon Blues and secondly because I am currently working on a new song for my latest project inspired by the recent Strawberry Moon. Yes, more details to come on that soon as it is a work in progress as I write this blog.

According to the Space Agency (2022),

"It qualifies as a “supermoon,” which is when a full moon occurs during the period that the moon is at its closest to Earth during its elliptical orbit."

Supermoons normally happen twice a year but not all of them are even mentioned in tabloids unless they come really close or lower to Earth like our recent Strawberry Moon or they hold some sort of significance to bloggers like me of course. If you are wondering what it means to me well you're in luck. I've always wondered what and why the moon is even there in the first place. Scientist and astro-biologist also ask the same question and so far have come up with more puzzling questions than answers in their research.

I mean it's always there even during the daytime. That is one bright object in the sky to say the least, who wouldn't gaze at it with wonder from time to time? If we were all living under a rock, the moon would be it literally.

Also, did you know that the word 'lunatic' is derived from the Spanish word luna? (well now you do). The moon itself is also widely known to affect the oceans' tides and human behavior alike. And if that doesn't make you think twice about it's purpose, I don't know what will. Ever wondered where the term March Madness really comes from? There are many para-psychologists who believe there is a distinct association between the Moon and the intimate behavior of the human condition during the month of March.

Important to note, a lot (but not all) of my speculation about the moon is also based on a book titled Our Mysterious Spaceship Moon by Don Wilson, which I read years ago while working at a bookstore in Dallas, Texas. That research has been making headlines over the years, so it's great to know that me and the author are not alone in our quest for answers regarding the moons origins and purpose. I mean why do we only ever get to see one side?

But before I continue my rant about what the moon is and why, let me get back to the real focus of this blog. I wanted to highlight my 2019 song Super Moon Blues which is available on Spotify, so please play this tune while reading the following lyrics... also take notice on how I call out the moon and it's authenticity in the beginning of the track. And when I repeat the phrase "when we don't get up, we get get down" in the chorus I am referring to our daily mood swings and especially our innate abilities. On the plus side it also has two meanings, the term "getting up" can also mean to put your name on as many walls as possible in every city (as possible). The lyrics in the chorus are definitely a complete homage to my graffiti days.

Now to the song titled...

Super Moon Blues

The question is what are you? Are you even there. I mean...?

Chorus: When we don’t get up/ we get down, get down When we don’t get up/ we get down, get down When we don’t get up/ we get down, get down When we don’t give up/ we get down, get down

Verse 1: Welcome to my stomping ground

Original hip-hop sounds I make music like its History- The mystery’s my style

Stop falling for that fake shit! I make shit growl/ Way far beyond that basic

As I blitz the clouds

Like raindrops feel the bass Plenty space around

Below the surface of your tastebuds/ I’ll never bow down The misfortune in my face but I embrace my smile

Even nothing does something Bringing that P. T. C. sound

Chorus: When we don’t get up/ we get down, get down When we don’t get up/ we get down, get down When we don’t get up/ we get down, get down When we don’t give up/ we get down, get down

Verse 2: Drip drop from the ceiling

Bring mycelium around

Straight biodegradable filter bullshit out Hip-Hop is sustainable when you practice word of mouth

I’m the rebel underground I’m like a lizard in the mountains

When the spores come around the shrooms grow by thousands It’s best to forage now before we lose the psilocybin

The dreams will take you away - No man is an Island Call me a warrior but don’t call me a survivor

Chorus: When we don’t get up/ we get down, get down When we don’t get up/ we get down, get down When we don’t get up/ we get down, get down When we don’t give up/ we get down, get down

Verse 3: Even when we sleep we fight in auto-pilot

Angels are like demons because they come uninvited As I watch the Supermoon go from red to blue

Now you can feel the spirit when it starts to bloom Watch the thunder clap and the bass go boom

Super high frequencies/ Omega hertz cocoons Lets vacuum the baboons just to move this groove

Don’t look backwards unless you really want to lose

Chorus: When we don’t get up/ we get down, get down When we don’t get up/ we get down, get down When we don’t get up/ we get down, get down When we don’t give up/ we get down, get down

END

Thanks for reading. More details to come on my latest album project.

I will talk with you all soon.
